As a student and teacher,

this is what I learned...

Over the years as a student and teacher, I have been able to learn a lot about myself, but most of all have learned strategies and techniques by researching some of the best theorists in adult education to make myself a better teacher!

In the following, you will be able to review some of the projects
I have done to make me a better teacher.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
What I know about multiple intelligences is because of the research that was done by the father of multiple intelligences, Howard Gardner. After learning about multiple intelligences, I now apply the techniques that Gardner provided for adult education.

Below is a group project (click pictures) I took part in to consider how we would improve upon our group lesson on multiple intelligences and learning styles to address the concept of learning transfer. In this project we wanted to be able to reach all the different learning strategies (rythmic, spatial, linguistic, mathematical, kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalistic) to make sure that each student grasped the idea being taught.

After completing the project, I have now been able to apply these strategies to the football classroom. The athletes have responded well because they have been able to learn the information and have been able to transfer the knowledge onto the field.

Below is the explanation on how we are able to reach the learners, and some examples of the strategies being used today.

TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING
Transformative learning occurs around us everyday, and has been our entire lives. We do not recognize transformative learning unless we truly understand what it is and how it occurs around us (click images below to learn more). What I know about transformative learning is because of the research done by Jack Mezirow.

Interested in using this type of learning as a coach, I researched the topic to see how it applies to coaching our athletes. I realized the correlation it has for our players to the decisions that they make on the field is a necessity to help them win on a daily basis.

After learning and understanding what transformative learning consists of, I have shared it with our athletes to help them understand how it relates to our preparation for a game and helps them to make adjustments during a game.

In the following, you can review transformative learning and how I am using it today.
